One of the main objectives of FoodE, a European research project, is to accelerate the growth of sustainable and resilient citizen-led urban food system initiatives of City Region Food System (CRFS) across Europe, and to characterize indicators of their replicability. Due to economic, social, sanitary, and environmental crises, consumers ask for more sustainable and healthier food systems. This work presents a specific output of FoodE project, in relation with the systematic literature research conducted on the different innovative business models (BMs) applied in the broad bioeconomy sector. The BM Canvas, based on the relation between profit and innovation, explains how the initiatives create, deliver and share values. The triple layered BM canvas adds two additional layers to the classic BM canvas. While the original BM canvas focuses only on the economical pillar, additional social and environmental indicators are considered. The review of innovative BMs in relation with the bioeconomy sector allows the identification and characterization of the relevant KPI (Key Performance Indicator) for the environmental, social and economic dimension to enhance sustainable CRFS initiatives and to propose viable strategy for their development and spreading across Europe. The review was conducted using the PRISMA methodology to gather and analyze scientific contributions on the topic. The results highlight the relevant topics of the food bioeconomy and their underlying business models, namely for urban and peri urban agriculture, alternative food networks, technological innovations (plant breeding, building-integrated rooftop greenhouses, vertical farming, aquaponics, smart farming, product innovations, and food waste valorization. Furthermore, sustainable and innovative BM of FoodE initiatives are presented. References: Jennings, S., Cottee, J., Curtis, T., Miller, S.
