Seed storage conditions can determine germination characteristics and vigor potential of seeds. The present study was undertaken with an aim to test the effect of storage of seeds under different storage conditions on seed germination in green soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merr.) 'KPS29'. There were 5 method of green soybean seed storage as follows; keeping at the temperature at 4 ºC, fumigation with the peppermint essential oil and packed in nylon/linear low density polyethylene (nylon/LLDPE) bag under vacuum sealing, fumigation with the peppermint essential oil and stored in plastic box, keeping in (nylon/LLDPE) bag under vacuum sealing and keeping in plastic box. Results showed that seed storage at 4 ºC for 6 months exhibited the highest seed germination rate. There were no significant germination rates of fumigation with the peppermint essential oil and packed in nylon/LLDPE bag under vacuum sealing and fumigation with the peppermint essential oil and stored in plastic box, compared to seed storage at 4 ºC. In addition, seed storage at 4 ºC showed the lowest electrolyte leakage from seeds and it did not differ from fumigation with the peppermint essential oil and packed in nylon/LLDPE bag under vacuum sealing. For 12-month seed storage, all seed storage methods showed seed germination rate at lower than 50%. Growth characteristics and yield performances were also determined under field conditions. All seed storage methods had no significant effect on plant height. Seed storage methods by storage at 4 ºC, fumigation with the peppermint essential oil and packed in nylon/LLDPE bag under vacuum sealing and fumigation with the peppermint essential oil and stored in plastic box showed the similar effect on branch number/plant, leaf number/plant, flower number/plant, pod number/plant and pod weight. On the other hand, yield of seed storage method by keeping in plastic box was found to be decreased.
