Streetscapes are crucial for daily exposure to urban nature, and they may be essential resources to provide positive psychological responses. The urban walks, such as sidewalks, are composed of several different visual landscapes, and each section of the routes may be associated with different extents of landscape perceptions and psychological outcomes. However, few studies have explored the sequence of visual landscapes on the walks. In addition, few studies have clarified whether street view photos represent the on-site experience. Thus, this study aimed to link the relationships between the sequential order of different visual landscapes that composed the routes and the psychological responses, including the landscape preference, and the subjective well-being and restoration effects. Participants were randomly assigned to walk on-site or to view the street view photos. The study made contributions to verifying the representability of Street View photos as the proxy of the on-site experience. Results can be used as the reference for establishing an evaluation framework for routes that may potentially provide psychological benefits.
