S09 - Session O1 - Development of a solidarity program for the De La Salle University School of Agronomy: Experience in the pro-niño leones school

This document subscribes a solidarity collaboration program of the School of Agronomy with the pro Niño Leones school, a campus located in one of the marginal areas in Leon, Gto. Mexico, it serves children and young people from scarce resources, it is a school of primary education in the morning and secondary education in the afternoon. The University participants were agroecology students from the fifth semester of the Agricultural Engineer in Production program, who were sensitized to the theory of the course. The program is based on the fulfillment of the sustainable development objectives of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, as well as the development of strategies for urban agriculture. The program includes several components such as awareness, education and selection of specific activities to be carried out at the Fundacion Pro Niño Leones School, to guarantee that the aid was productive. The activities carried out were the establishment of an agroecological garden, a greenhouse for plant production, and participation in various activities to improve the plant: painting, signage, arrangement of planters. So far, with the activities carried out, it is intended to enter a new and splendid culture that helps the lives of the students of the campus.
