French berry fruits (raspberries, blueberries, blackcurrants, currants and blackberries) are facing a booming market (more than 300% growth in 10 years) but increasing technical challenges. Already poorly supplied with crop protection products, berry fruit production has been confronted in recent years with a loss of many "key" phytosanitary specialities (herbicides, insecticides, fungicides), which is forcing producers to review their production methods in depth. A study conducted in France in 2021 identified the main phytosanitary problems on berries and the means of control developed by producers. The switch to soilless cultivation, the deployment of Integrated Biological Production (IBP) in tunnels, the use of biocontrol products or the installation of physical barriers such as anti-drosophila nets are techniques that partially control the various targeted pests, and which have a strong impact on production costs.
