INTRODUCTION

Plant tissue culture is not only an important tool for fundamental research such as plant physiology and gene discovery, but it is also of direct commercial interest for mass micropropagation of plants, plant conservation and breeding, genetic transformation, genome editing, production of secondary metabolites, etc.

Academic and industrial scientists, students and other stakeholders will gather in Angers to discuss the latest advances in this important domain of plant biotechnology. This event will provide a platform to share the latest innovations and trends, discuss challenges and issues, and take the opportunity to establish multilateral cooperation through personal contacts.

The following topics will be developed during the symposium:

• New tools for micropropagation, rooting and acclimatization (including new compounds and light tools, imaging systems)

• In vitro breeding (including, embryo rescue, chromosome doubling, dihaploid production, protoplast fusion, mutagenesis)

• Micropropagation and microorganisms (including work on endophytes and contaminants, Next Generation Virus detection and eradication technologies)

• Molecular insights to understand micropropagation (including plant regulator signaling perception, pathways, actions and inhibitors)

• Conservation and long-term storage (including cryopreservation, slow-growth storage and synthetic seeds)

• Scaling up micropropagation (including somatic embryogenesis, bioreactors, robots and automation for commercial production)
